Richard F. Kocon, Sr., 68, of Winfield Township, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Oakland. He was born February 8, 1949 in Harrison Township. Richard has lived the past 16 years in Winfield Twp. and prior to that Freeport. He was an auto mechanic for 45 years at Natrona Auto Electric and Transmission and a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. Richard was of the Catholic faith and graduate of Har Brack High School in 1967. He enjoyed classic cars and especially enjoyed his family. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Janet E. (Overly) Kocon; children, Miranda (John) Teeters, Vandergrift, Richard F. Kocon, Jr., and Chelsey Kocon, both of Winfield Twp.; step children John (Rhonda) Mazur, Buffalo Twp., Traci (Rich Palmer) Harpster, Lower Burrell, Christine Rupert, Natrona Heights, Scott (Lisa) Mazur, Allen, TX and Lorrie Olson, MD. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, L. Sam Kocon. Visitation was held Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a blessing service was held on Thursday at 10AM with Rev. Thomas L. Gillespie, MD, officiating. Private burial was held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. with full military honors. Family suggests contributions to the Kocon family.
