David M. Barnas,CRNP, 68 of Natrona Heights passed away unexpectedly, Friday, August 4, 2017 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born October 3, 1948 in Harrison Township son of the late Michael and Margaret A. Barnas and late step mother Phyllis (Saylor)Barnas. David was a decorated Vietnam veteran, who was very proud of his service with the 31st Infantry Regiment. Receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Mens badge, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and expert M 16 rifle badge and Purple Heart. He worked for many years for the Veteran''s Administration where, over many years, he treated numerous vets who had served in WW 2, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a Nurse Practitioner at the VA , Highland Drive, Aspinwall and Butler. David was a member of Harrison Twp. VFW, North Buffalo Sportsmen''s club, Tarentum District Sportsman Club and was chairman of the Harrison Twp. Planning Commission. He graduated from Har Brack High School in 1965 and received a BS from Penn State University with a Nursing degree and the University of Pittsburgh as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Survivors include his wife Laura L.. (Cissel) Barnas; step daughter Emily (Anthony) Herby, Worland, WY, step sons Matthew Creveling, Atlanta, GA and Keith Creveling, Natrona Heights and grandchildren Ethan, Myah and Seth Herby. Sisters, Sylvia (Gregory) Saylor-Savage, New York, Margaret (John) Cochran, Williamsburg, VA, Elaine Boda, New Kensington and Arleen (Philip) Dacey, Glenshaw, PA. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Matthew (Carey) Savage, Rachel (Joseph) Dobies, Jacqueline (Sean) Hanlon, Daniel Boda, Lia Savage and Julia (Meisam) Izadjoo. Visitation 2-4 and 5-8 PM Tuesday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in Christ Our Hope Angelican Church, Natrona Heights with Rev. John P. Bailey, officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
