Dr Anthony L "Tony" Monteleone

November 10, 1932 — July 7, 2016

Dr. Anthony L. "Tony" Monteleone, Sr., 83, of Natrona Heights, passed away July 7, 2016 peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 10, 1932 in Cimina, Reggio Di Calabria, Italy. Son of the late Natale and Lucia (Fudoli) Monteleone. He was very proud of his Italian Heritage. Tony came to the United States when he was 4 years old with his family, and settled in Carnegie. He graduated from Carnegie High School and received degrees from Slippery Rock University, Indiana University and the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his PhD. Tony served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Dr. Monteleone was a Principal in the Highlands Area School District and retired from the Butler Area School District as Senior Director of Secondary Education. He was a loved and respected Educator. Dr. Monteleone also served as an Interim Administrator in many school districts after retiring. Anthony was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church and for the past 14 years he served as a Co-Chair of the Highlands Relay for Life. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, sports and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed making ravioli and pizelles for the holidays with the help of his grandson Dante. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Frederico Monteleone; his children, Dr. Anthony L. Monteleone, II, Mt. Lebanon, Josette Monteleone, and Cary Monteleone and grandson Dante Monteleone, Natrona Heights. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who he really loved. Besides parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Orlandini and Isabelle Neace. Visitation 6-8PM Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum 724-224-1526. Christian Funeral Mass Monday at 10AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights with his Pastor, Rev. James K. Mazurek, officiating. Burial in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church or in his name to American Cancer Society''s Highlands Relay for Life, Team Merry Monteleones.
