Matthew E. Watts, 14, of Brackenridge, passed away at home on Thursday, June 23, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was born March 22, 2002 in Harrison Township, son of Edward J. "Jim" and Diana M. (Poprik) Watts. Matthew lived his entire life in Brackenridge. He was a student at Highlands Middle School. Matthew was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum where he was an Altar server. He was working on his Eagle Scout Badge for Troop 186, played Little League Baseball for Highlands and was a member of Allegheny Valley YMCA and Sylvan swim teams. Matthew was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Matthew had many friends from across the country that he enjoyed the outdoors with, especially his friends in Texas. Besides his parents he is survived by his siblings, Brian E. Poprik and fiancée Danielle, Bridgeville, Rachel E. Watts, Erie, Jacob R. and Abigail L. Watts, both at home. Also surviving is a Maternal Grandmother Patricia (Ludwiczak) Poprik, Natrona Heights and Paternal Grandmother Vivian (Rodgers) Watts, Natrona Heights; numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins survive as well as his pet dog Ruger. Matthew was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather Edward G. Poprik and Paternal Grandfather Carl E. Watts. Visitation 6-8PM Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 am followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10am in Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum with his Pastor, Rev. Wesley M. Mash, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Parastas will be held Sunday at 7PM in the funeral home. Family suggests contributions to the Matthew Watts fund at PNC Bank or Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum.
