William J "Bill" Spicher Sr

William J. "Bill" Spicher, Sr., 77, of New Kensington, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at home. He was born in Brackenridge, a son of the late John E. and Marion (Russell) Spicher on October 30, 1938. He attended St. Joseph High School in Natrona. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier from 1958-1962. Bill retired from YMCA of New Kensington and worked for 20 years at Pullman Standard in Butler, PA as a Material handler. Bill was a member of the American Legion #868 in Lower Burrell. He enjoyed fishing and doing yard work for his neighbors. Bill loved to tell stories, especially to children and joke with adults. He had a good sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann (Pajer) Spicher; a son William (Robin Stearman) Spicher, Jr.; Sister-in-law Judith A. (John) Hraba, Madison, AL, brother-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Pajer, Lower Burrell and 3 nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John C. "Butch" Spicher while serving in the US Navy on the USS Liberty, KIA June 1967. Visitation 4-7PM Wednesday, in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a blessing service will be conducted Thursday at 11AM with Rev. Kenneth Zaccagnini, Pastor St. Margaret Mary, Lower Burrell, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Tarentum VFW Post 5758.
