Edward G. Poprik, Sr., 88, of Brackenridge, passed away Sunday. April 17, 2016. He was born August 23, 1927 in Ford City, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Paster) Poprik, Sr. Edward has lived the past 54 years in Brackenridge. He was an Elementary School Principal for the Highlands School District, Birdville, Fawn Twp. and 3rd Ward. Edward was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy. A member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum and the Greek Catholic Union. Edward graduated from Ford City High School and earned a B.S. from Clarion University and a Masters in Administration from Penn State University. Edward loved to travel, go to the casinos and was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed being with his family. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia L. (Ludwiczak) Poprik; his children, Edward G. (Robin) Poprik, Jr., State College, John M. Poprik, Altamonte Springs, FL, Diana M. (Jim) Watts, Brackenridge and Daniel C. (Christine) Poprik, West Chester. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Anna Mikula and Michael Poprik, Jr. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8PM Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be held at 9:30 Am on Friday followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum with Rev. Wesley M. Mash, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Parastas will be recited Thursday at 7PM.
