Edward S "Sam" Nyga

Edward S. "Sam" Nyga, 75, of Natrona Heights, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, Cabot, following a lengthy illness. He was born November 12, 1940 in Harrison Twp., son of the late Edward J. and Mary (Devlin) Nyga. He lived his entire life in Natrona Heights. Sam was a Kettle Operator in the Coating and Resins Department at PPG Industries, Springdale for 35 years retiring in 1995. He was of the Protestant faith and a social member of Natrona Heights VFW and Tarentum Eagles. Past president Tarentum Moose and a graduate of Har Brack High School. Sam loved to play the guitar. He played lead guitar in several local country western bands, "Oak Valley Boys", Classic Country Band, and volunteered at the Plum Sr. Citizens center every Wednesday where he played and entertained the Sr. Citizens. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Alberta R. "Bert" (Spear) Nyga; his children, Tammy L. (David) Williams, Brackenridge, Patti M. (David) Wendt, Buffalo Twp. and Terri L. Bouch and Scott Shaffer, Adrian; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His step children, Delaun Meckling, Natrona Heights, Jerry Meckling and Ginger Meckling, both of Pittsburgh, Also surviving are his siblings, Archie Nyga, Natrona Heights, Della (Bob) Skibicki, Massalion, OH, Dolores Beam, Fawn Twp. and former wife, Patricia M. (Beam) Nyga and John Boreland, Natrona Heights. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Leila M. Asay. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM with Pastor Jayne K. French, New Life Christian Ministries, Saxonburg officiating. Entombment in Mt. Airy Mausoleum, Natrona Heights. Family suggests contributions t the Charity of One''s choice.
