Irene M Ruffner

Irene M. (McGuire) Ruffner, 92, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Twp., where she was a resident the past 5 ½ years. She was born June 3, 1923 in Harrison Township, daughter of the late Patrick J. and Mary Alice (Doverspike) McGuire. Irene lived in Natrona Heights for 30 years and prior to that Freeport and most recently in Winfield Twp. She was an elementary school teacher for St. Mary School, Freeport. A member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Irene graduated in 1941 from Har Brack High School. She loved children, doing crossword puzzles, poetry and especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Timothy G. (Mary Ann) Ruffner, Vandergrift and Nora I. (Richard) Merchant, South Buffalo Twp.; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Nora Daloisio, currently in Fair Winds Manor. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Ruffner in 1971, a son Paul T. Ruffner, 1953 and her siblings, Patrick C. and John W. "Bill" McGuire and Rebecca Swonger.
