Dr. Stephen A. Kuniak, 64, of Lower Burrell, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights following a brief illness. He was born September 22, 1951 in Harrison Township, son of Mary Ellen (Jentgens) Kuniak, Frazer Twp. and the late Stephen J. "Chep" Kuniak. He has lived in Lower Burrell since 1981 and prior to that Frazer Township. Stephen was a Dentist in Tarentum and the VA; and State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh and Greensburg. He was a member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Natrona Council and Lector in Church and taught CCD. Dr. Kuniak was a also a member of the American Dental Association, Master in Academy of General Dentistry, PA Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Association and was a former Scout Master with many awards. A 1969 graduate of East Deer Frazer School District, the University of Pittsburgh, B.S. in 3 years and a Dental Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rosemary C. (Pessolano) Kuniak: children, Stephen F. Kuniak, Greensburg and Elizabeth R. Kuniak, Lower Burrell. His siblings, Dr. Michael P. (Sarah) Kuniak, Cranberry Twp., David A. Kuniak and Daniel S. Kuniak both of Frazer Twp. Also surviving is an aunt, Elizabeth J. Jentgens, O''Hara Twp., Uncle Anthony Kuniak, Buffalo Twp. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation 6-8PM Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10AM in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, with Rev. Thomas L. Gillespie, MD, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp. Knights of Columbus will hold service 7pm Fri in Funeral home.
