.William J. Negley, 68, of Natrona Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born June 29, 1947, in Braeburn, son of the late Ruth E. (Stivason) Negley. William has lived in Natrona Heights since 1984 and was employed for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., Brackenridge in the 8-7 Melt Shop for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam era in Texas and Germany as a Gunner, 155 mm Cannon. William was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, Brackenridge American Legion, President Freeport EMS Volunteer Fire Department, vice president Freeport Fire Department, Lt. Fire Police, Usher for St. Mary's Church and a Eucharistic Minister, was a life scout for Boy Scouts of America and a shop steward for USWA 1196. William graduated from Freeport High School in 1965. William enjoyed NASCAR, Hockey, Steelers, his bird Baby Boy, gardening, baking, taking care of his pond, his son's dogs, plowing the neighborhood snow, playing Santa and volunteering his time as an EMT. He especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Joyce Marie (Deringer) Negley; his son, Christopher J. (Lindsay Ann) Negley, Natrona Heights; his siblings, Judy (David) Reudiger, Florida, Sherry (Frank) Mitzen, Vandergrift, Howard (Ann) Negley Jr., Lower Burrell, Pamela Enriquez, California, and Gary (Myrna) Negley, Gilpin Township; his mother-in-law, Doris Deringer, Natrona Heights; sisters-in-law, Karen (Sean) Ferris, Penn Hills, and Janet (Timothy) Hindley, Natrona Heights; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Henry Deringer. Visitation 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. A Christian funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Church, Freeport, with the Rev. Ronald Maquinana officiating. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tarentum, with full military honors by Tarentum VFW and Brackenridge American Legion.
