Salvatore R Chiusano

December 12, 1949 — October 7, 2015

Salvatore R. "Sam" Chiusano, 65, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Platinum Ridge Nursing Home, Brackenridge. He was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Oakmont, son of the late Samuel and Marjorie (Gauger) Chiusano. Sam has lived the past five years in Freeport and prior to that Vero Beach, Fla., for 10 years. He was a carpenter for Carnegie Mellon University for 15 years and also was a coal miner for Newfield Mine, Penn Hills, for 10 years. Sam was a veteran of the Army, serving in Vietnam, and a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport. He was also the former director for Highlands Hornets and president of the Natrona Heights Baseball and Softball Association. He graduated from Oakmont High School in 1967 and enjoyed fishing, bowling and golf. Sam especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Deborah A. (Tenerowicz) Chiusano; his children, Kimberly (Robert) Riddle, of Brackenridge, Salvatore R. (Valerie) Chiusano Jr., of Arnold, and Brian S. Chiusano, of Brackenridge; his grandchildren, Alexis Markey, Kaitlin Ozepy, Kylee Markey, Summer Chiusano, Austin Chiusano and Luca Chiusano; great-grandchildren, Riley Markey and Giavonna Stevens; also surviving are his siblings, Joseph "Jay" (Janet) Chiusano, of Penn Hills, and Esther (Chiusano) Brigham, of Fort Pierce, Fla. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with his pastor, the Rev.
