Lena "Lee" Bettor, 102, of Lower Burrell, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015. She was born Nov. 17, 1912, in New Kensington, daughter of the late Nicola and Sarah (Scanga) Bruno. Lena lived her entire life in New Kensington. She was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, a graduate of Parnassus High School and Citizens School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 44 years at the former Citizens General Hospital and the Guest of Honor at their 50th Anniversary celebration. Lena always had beautiful gardens. She was an avid baker, baking birthday cakes and Christmas cookies for her family and friends. Her "Pride and Joy" were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in being a beloved aunt. Survivors include her daughter, with whom she made her home, Gayly (Bettor) Dettore; granddaughters, Valerie (Chris) Wojcik, of Lower Burrell, and Kristi (J.J.) Jack, of Sarver; and five great-grandchildren, Connor and Shelby Wojcik and Mackensey, Kadyn and Justin Jack. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Dusty" Bettor, in 1975; two brothers, Thomas and Anthony Bruno; and three sisters, Elizabeth Coscarelli, Josephine Phillips and Carmella Jones. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. At her request, there will be no visitation. Her family would like to invite relatives and friends to attend a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. Burial will be private.
