Mary M (Halvonik) Gehenio

Mary M. (Halvonik) Gehenio, 94, of East Deer Twp., passed away Tuesday, April 04, 2017 at West Penn Hospital, Hospice Unit, Pittsburgh. She was born June 9, 1922 in Tarentum, daughter of the late John J. and Catherine (Korpak) Halvonik. Mary has lived in Tarentum and East Deer most of her life and was a member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum and formerly St. Clement Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Tarentum High School. Mary devoted her entire life to her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking and especially making homemade bread. Survivors include her children, Catherine A. (John) Corkill, Scranton, Anthony R. Gehenio, Buffalo Twp., Marianne (Joseph) Krepp, East Deer Twp., Rita M. Fullerton, San Mateo, FL, Laura J. (Mark) Crissman, Kittanning, James J. (Debra) Gehenio, Camp Hill and Carl E. (Lisa) Gehenio, Annville, PA. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Gehenio in 2011; daughter Dolores O. "Dee" Gehenio in 1997, 4 brothers Rev. Rudolph, John, Joseph and Frank Halvonik and 2 sisters Anne Lesney and Mildred Jeckovich. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave,, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Christian Funeral Maas at 10 am in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum with Rev. Thomas L. Gillespie. MD, officiating. Entombment in Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, Frazer Twp.
