Beverly Hamm

Beverly Hamm, 82, of Wood River, Neb., passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Neb. Beverly Alice Hamm was born March 28, 1934, in Tarentum, to Carl and Martha (Wolff) Doutt. She grew up in Tarentum and attended Tarentum schools. Beverly was united in marriage to Philip Hamm Sr. Oct. 13, 1951, in Tarentum, after which the couple resided in California for the first two years of marriage, where she did housekeeping. Phil and Bev traveled with their daughters during his military career and lived in many towns, cities and countries. Phil and Bev moved to Wood River in 1975 and made their home there. Bev worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Wood River for 28 years as a CNA and laundry attendant. Bev enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family. She loved singing and dancing. Bev loved to cook and feed her family. She also loved pets and gardening. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Margaret Hamm, of Wood River, Phyllis (Randy) Johnson, of Wood River, and Beve (Gary) Boutilier, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; and seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Sr.; infant son, Philip Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene (Alois) Kudlach; and granddaughter, Jennifer Curlo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at APFEL FUNERAL HOME in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, 347 E. 10th Ave., in Tarentum, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Westmoreland County.Memorials have been suggested to the family for future designation.
