Alvin Lynn Rankin, 85, of Brackenridge passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Allegheny Valley Hospital. He was born December 27, 1931 in Brackenridge, son of the late Archie and Leona (Rushmore) Rankin. Alvin lived most of his life in Tarentum. He attended Pitcairn Elementary School on Bakerstown Rd. and graduated from Tarentum High School in 1949. He first worked for K&C Beverage Co. in Tarentum then started working at Allegheny Ludlum in 1950. He enlisted in the Army from 1952-1955. Alvin was a Driving and Gunnery instructor at Ft. Knox in the Tank Co. While in Korea he ran a small machine shop. When he returned home he went back to work at Allegheny Ludlum and worked as a Machinist in #9 machine shop, retiring in 1995 after 45 years. He was a member of the former St. Clements Church, now Holy Martyrs Church. At St. Clements he was a Lector and was President of Northeast Deanery of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul for many years. He enjoyed airplanes, traveling, stock car racing and trains. Alvin especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Diane M. (Golgan) Rankin, children Timothy Rankin, New Kensington, Gregory (Kathleen) Rankin, Natrona Heights, Nancy (Chris) Miller, Apollo and grandchildren Cole Miller, Hailee, Chad and Sarah Rankin. Besides parents, he was preceded in death by step father Jerry McDonald and Sister Alice Lettrich. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a prayer service will be held at Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10AM in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum with Rev.
