Dorothy L. (Mercer) Loya, 82, formerly of Cheswick, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh following a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1934 in Indiana, PA, daughter of the late Albert and Katherine (Nagy) Mercer, Sr. Dorothy lived the past 5 years in Pittsburgh and prior to that 6 years in Dawson, PA. She spent most of her life in Cheswick and Springdale where she was a homemaker. Dorothy was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum and a graduate of Indiana High School. She was an avid card player, especially Poker and 500 Rummy; she enjoyed reading and singing and especially enjoyed her family. Survivors include her children, Christopher P. (Susan) Loya, Penn Hills, Stephen A. (Bonnie) Loya, Brackenridge, David J. (Anesa) Loya, Mt. Holly, NC and Susan Rebecca Loya, Hedgesville WV; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Loya, Dec. 31, 2012, and her siblings Albert Mercer, Jr. and Margaret Zalatel. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, where a Panachida will be conducted at 9:30 am Monday followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum with her pastor Rev. Wesley M. Mash, officiating. Entombment in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Twp. Parastas will be held in the funeral home Sun at 7PM.
