On January 4, 2017 our dad, Mario Cocchi, 96, Allegheny Twp., passed into Heaven while a resident of Fair Winds Manor where he has lived for two years. Dad was born March 10, 1920 in Monongahela, son of the late John and Lucy (Paterlini) Cocchi. He served our country in the US Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945 as a Carpenter''s Mate 3rd class on the Ferryboat Brooklyn. Upon his discharge, he became a carpenter for various companies in the Pittsburgh area. With perseverance and hard work that was so prevalent during this time of his life, he was able to attain the position as Superintendant of Construction of Sewage Treatment and Water Filtration plants all over the United States. Upon retirement, planting tomatoes and vegetables was the way he relaxed, giving away the fruits of his labor to anyone that came within a mile of the farm. The one thing that Dad was noted for was his ability to sew microwave mittens on the treadle sewing machine that was his mother''s, the mittens have gone all over the world and to this day people still request replacements. Mario was a member of Mt. Troy Lodge #311 in Troy, New York and received his 50 years of service pin in 2015. How blessed all our children and grandchildren have been to have had their Granddad in their lives. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his son John H.
