Walter W. Berkoben, Jr., 85, of Tarentum, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia. He was born May 13, 1931 in Arnold, son of the late Walter W. and Edith (Settlemyere) Berkoben, Sr. Walter has lived most of his life in Tarentum where he was a Building Contractor/Master Plumber in the Tarentum area for 30 years and was also employed at PPG, Creighton for 11 years. He was a member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum and former member of Tarentum Moose. Walter was a social member of Tarentum VFW and was on Tarentum council from 1980-88. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working around the house for his children. Walter also enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Josephine F. (Magoc) Berkoben; children, Randolph W. Berkoben, Tarentum, Mary Ellen (James) Donatelli, Richmond Hill, GA, Gary (Elaine) Berkoben, Tarentum, and Karen (Edward) Kosakowski, Tarentum; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, Also surviving is a sister, Carol Ann (David) Steele, Flushing, MI. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Ann Berkoben, grandson Aaron Berkoben and four sisters, Delores Loughner, Marie Coldin, Marlene Chupek and Gladys Ann Powers. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8PM Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum with his pastor, Rev.
