Robert A. Gutknecht, 71, of Arnold, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, after being ill the past four years. He was born July 25, 1945 in New Kensington, son of the late Herman and Connie (Matergia) Gutknecht. Robert has lived the past 40 years in Arnold and prior to that Logans Ferry Heights. He was a Metallurgist Technician for ALCOA in New Kensington and the Technical facility for 30 years. A member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum, New Kensington Moose where he attained the highest degree of Pilgrim, 7th Street Sportsman club and River Forest Country Club, Allegheny Township. Robert was also a social member of American Legion and VFW both of Lower Burrell. A 1963 graduate of New Kensington High School and played football at Appalachian State. Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading and cooking. He especially enjoyed his family, children and 4 granddaughters. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara L. (Kuzma) Gutknecht; children, Aaron (Lolette) Gutknecht, Ft. Worth, TX and Tiffany (Joseph) Flores, Concord, NC; and his granddaughters, Victoria and Valerie Gutknecht, Ft. Worth, TX and Evie and Gabi Flores, Concord, NC. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Baucom. Visitation 6-8PM Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Duster funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be conducted in the Funeral Home, Sat at 9:30 am followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 am in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum with his pastor, Rev. Wesley M. Mash, officiating. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. New Kensington Moose will meet in the FH Thur at 7 PM and Parastas will be recited Fri at 7PM in the Funeral home.
