Alice M. (Mack) Southward, 87, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA. She was born September 2, 1929 in Harrison Twp., daughter of the late Louis J. and Ann E. (Gamer) Mack, Sr. Alice lived in Lancaster the past 7 years and prior to that Natrona Heights. She was a Registered Nurse in Private Practice in the Natrona Heights area for many years. A member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights and a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School and the former St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburgh in 1950. She worked for Allegheny Valley Hospital, George F. Edmonston, MD and William A. Gillinger, MD and Valley Family Practice Center. Alice enjoyed crocheting and many, many family and friends have been the recipients of her afghans. Another favorite was traveling to Lake Erie and the beach at both the Jersey shore and Myrtle Beach, NC. Survivors include her son, William W. (Sue) Southward, Jr., Lancaster; grandchildren, Dominique Ansani, Katie Ansani, Jamie Wall and Michael Southward; step grandchildren Jillian and Joseph Fittipaldi and Kristina Furner; and twelve (and three quarters) great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Colette Ansani Sept. 2, 2005 and a brother Louis Mack.
