Jack DeVon Berringer, 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Assisted Living. He was born June 30, 1927 in Johnstown, son of the late Chester and Eva C. (Evans) Berringer. Jack lived most of his life in Tarentum and Lower Burrell since 1960. He was a steamfitter for 35 years working all throughout Western Pennsylvania. Jack was a WWII veteran in the US Navy serving aboard the USS Norton Sound. A member of Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, where he was a Deacon, PA Masons and Syria Temple. Was on the board of Directors, Tarentum District Sportsman club and member Steam Fitters Local 449 of Pittsburgh. Jack graduated in 1946 from Tarentum High School and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan and car racer. He enjoyed target shooting and was also a NRA Instructor. Survivors include his brother, Thomas L. (Patricia) Berringer, Cocoa Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Tracey (Fred) Kim, Wexford, Thomas Berringer, Pgh., Terry (Sue) Berringer, Pgh., Kevin Carter, Ft. Pierce, FL and Karen Griffin, Port St. Lucie, FL. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet (Price) Berringer in 2002; and sisters, Linda Pelican and Doris Walker in 2016.
