Lloyd G. "Bud" Shick, 87, of Fawn Twp., passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at home, following a brief illness. He was born March 12, 1929 in Vandergrift, son of the late Henry and Hazel (Morgan) Shick. Lloyd worked for 4 years at Allegheny Ludlum Steel mill and retired from PPG Research Lab as a Sr. Lab Technician after a successful 40 year career. During his professional career at PPG he was the recipient of multiple patents. After retirement he began creating hand-crafted wind chimes to sell at fairs and craft shows; which were well sought after through several states. He was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Center, Buffalo Twp., graduate of Tarentum High School 1948 and attended Penn State New Kensington. Bud was a profitable fur trapper in his youth. He was an award winning avid fisherman and hunter. He excelled at training beagles to be his hunting companions. Bud was a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan and a gifted professional photographer and loved to travel. His health regiment of daily long distance walking, with his friend, was the catalyst for him creating his unique line of walking sticks. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Muriel C. (Kuntz) Shick; daughters, Judith (David) Lippold, Saxonburg, Wendy (Scott) Garmon,Wesley Chapel, NC, Geanie (Donnie) Jones, Monroeville and Mindy (Mark) Wirick, Fox Chapel; grandchildren, Jason Hockenberry, Katie (Brian) Patrick, Matthew Garmon, Nicholas (Susie) Skowronski and Jenna (Allen Reynolds) Skowronski; great grandchildren, Bryce Patrick and William and Charles Skowronski. Also surviving are his siblings, Rev. Richard L. (Shirley) Shick, Sarver, Henry (Martha) Schick, Watertown, NY and Beverly McAfoose, Tarentum. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter LeeAnn Hockenberry and a sister Dorothy Rowan.
