Alan W. Slater,74 of Fawn Twp, passed away Friday,Oct 20th on his 74th birthday at his home,unexpextedly. Alan was born October 20,1949 in Harrison Twp,a son of the late Eugene W. and Margaret M. (Sarver) Slater. Alan lived the past 20 yrs in Fawn Twp,prior to that he spent most of his life in Tarentum where he was employed as a scheduler of wheelchair repairs for Blackburns in Tarentum for 22 yrs. He also was a baker for Kroger supermarkets,and was a delivery man for the Valley Newspaper. Alan was of the Christian Faith,and formerly was member of of Summit Hose Fire Co, Tarentum, and the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn Twp. He graduated from Tarentum High School in 1968. Alan enjoyed spending time with his friends, but especially being with his family, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 yrs, Debra J. (Scholl) Slater, his children Jeremy A. (Dawn Marie) Slater,Ft. Bragg,NC, Jeff T. (Amy) Slater, Brackenridge, 5 Grandchildren, Samantha, Elijah, Caleb, Ean (Samantha), and Caitlan. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Barnett. All Services for Alan will be private. A gathering of family and friends will be announced at a later date.
