Albert S. Mitro, 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away, Monday, August 13, 2018 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 13, 1929 in East Deer Twp., to the late John and Mary (Sabolchak) Mitro. Albert lived the past 4 years in Lower Burrell and prior to that East Deer Township. He was a Glassworker at PPG Industries and a veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean era. Albert was a member of Mt. ST. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, Tarentum Elks, founding member American Slovak Club, Creighton, New Kensington Eagles, Brackenridge American Legion and OWLS Club, Russelton. He graduated in 1947 from East Deer Frazer High School and was a member of the 1946 WPIAL class B champion football team. Albert was an avid hunter and trout fisherman, especially at camp in Potter County and was a Steeler fan.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Helen A. “Bebe” (Capo) Mitro; brother Richard (Dianne) Mitro, CA; sister in laws Patricia (Robert) Bengel and Audrey Capo, both of Lower Burrell; 2 Aunts Dorothy Kaminsky, Russellton and Marge (Ed) Dobryzynski, East Deer Twp. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A special thank you to the staff of Belair Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two uncles Andrew Mitro and Michael Sabolchak.
