Bertha L Cain

Bertha L. Cain, 83 of Freeport passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights surrounded by her family. She was born March 29,1938 in Natrona Heights a daughter of the late Raymond O. and Julietta E. (Adams) Christie. She graduated from Har- Brack High School in 1956. Bert worked for many years as the Head Dietician for Highlands School District.fter graduation from Nursing School, she worked at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for twenty plus years. In addition to her family and friends, Bert enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bingo, going to the Casino, and playing cards with her sisters. Bert is survived by her children, Terri Lee (Robert) Bowser, Buffalo Twp, Cindy Lou Schrecengost, Tarentum, Oren W. (Shelley) McElwain,Jr. Shelbyville, IN, and Perry D. (Cynthia) McElwain,Sr. of Leechburg, and Twelve grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John (Hilda) Christie of Florida, Sisters in Law Rhoda Christie of Tarentum and Audrey Christie of Sarver, and her Brother in law Donald Smith of Fawn Twp. Also surviving are several Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her Husband, Thomas S. Cain, three sisters, Laura Mae Callen, Hazel Smith, and Esther Zabinski, two Brothers, Raymond O. Christie, Jr, Donald “ Buck “ Christie, and Son in Law Charles G. Schrecengost. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29th her birthday, from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 7:00 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 East 10th Avenue, Tarentum 15084 (724)-224-1526.
