Bertie L. Null, 90, formerly of Tarentum, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Kittanning Care Center. She was born April 19, 1931 in Natrona Heights to the late Lewis Miller and Bertha (Kepple) Swartzlander. She lived most of her life in the AK Valley where she was a Care Taker/ Nurse’s Aide for various nursing homes and also a Senior companion for several years. She also worked for a time and retired from Medrad in Indianola and 15 years for Allegheny Valley Residence. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge, where she sang in the choir, lifetime member of Tarentum Moose, member of College of Regents and a volunteer at Allegheny Valley Hospital and at Dalton’s Edge. Bertie graduated from Har Brack High School in 1950. She was a collector of bells, and enjoyed country music, baking and ceramics. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons David L. Null and fiancé Kathleen Antonelli, of Brackenridge and Chris A. Null, of Natrona Heights. Grandchildren Misty Sutton, of Brackenridge, Ayla and Jennifer Null, all of Brackenridge and Stephanie Null, of Natrona Heights; God child Guy (Denise) Lucas, of Trafford and great granddaughter McKenzie Sutton, of New Castle. Besides her parents and step father, Neal Swartzlander, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Null in 1980; sisters Barbara Rogacki and Maxine Lucas Ferlong, Step sister Betty J. Skibicki and step brother Melvin Swartzlander, God child and niece Mara Lucas and daughter in law Vicki Null.
Visitation 3-7 PM Friday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM with Rev. Gregory L. Spencer, officiating. Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Twp. Family suggests contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge or Alzheimer’s Association. VISIT: dusterfh.com
