Bette M. Smith

Bette M. Smith, 91, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday August 3, 2022. She was born July 23, 1931 in Natrona Heights to the late Lawrence and Hattie (Adams) McClain. Bette was a homemaker and also worked at Murphy’s Department store. She was a member of Church of the Brethren, Natrona Heights and life member of Fawn Twp. #1 Fire Hall Auxiliary. Bette attended Har Brack High School and chaperoned for 8 years for the Highland Cavaliers.

            Survivors include her children Kevin Smith, of Tifton, GA and Becky Meyer, of Tarentum who was her caretaker; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings William McClain, of Natrona Heights, Margaret Jones, of Eubank, KY and sister-in-law Lois McClain and her late husband Elmer, of Natrona Heights. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Dale Smith in 1996, grandson Matthew, great granddaughter Riah-Lee; her siblings, R. Neale, Thomas, Ralph, Calvin, Elmer, Lawrence and James McClain and Helen McClain and Florence Jablonowski.

            Visitation 2-4 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Monday at 1PM with Rev. Robert D. Dayton, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. VISIT: dusterfh.com
