Betty Lou Varhola

Betty Lou Varhola, 97, of Tarentum, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026 at Quality Life Services, Apollo. She was born March 15, 1929 in Wyano, PA to the late Joseph and Minnie (Moser) Mlinek. Betty Lou lived most of her life in Tarentum where she was a homemaker and also a custodian for Highlands School district for 23 years. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum. Betty Lou was an avid bingo player, loved flowers, was a former member of Tarentum Garden club and enjoyed camping with her family.

Survivors include her children, Rose M. (Carmen) Butler, of Arnold, Mary Ann (William) Yanosh, of Fawn Twp., William (Carol) Varhola, of Hampton, VA and Darlene (Richard) Artman, of Tarentum. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Gloria Balog, of Greensburg and Barbara Malone, of Ruffsdale, PA.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Varhola in 2019; 2 sisters, Jane Barnett and Delores Moore and 2 brothers, Robert “Herb” and Joseph Mlinek.

Visitation 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be conducted Friday at 10:30 followed by a Divine Liturgy at 11 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum with her Pastor, Very Rev. Father Vasyl Polyak officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp.
