Candice Fay Petrovich, 74, of Brackenridge, passed away peacefully at home on May 4th surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 14, 1949 in Wilmerding to the late Lester "Bud" and Josephine Diehl.
Candice had been a resident of Brackenridge for the past 19 years, where she spent happily living with her daughter Kristy and her family. Prior to this she lived in Tarentum. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and animals. Her other interests include birdwatching, crafting, crocheting, tending to her houseplants and bingo. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a master’s and license in social work. She was passionate about the field of domestic violence. She began her 20+ year long career by volunteering at a local women’s shelter working the hotlines. Then she worked for a non-profit agency, DACC, along with the court system where she taught anger-management classes. Later she became CEO of the company and ran it until she retired.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law-Kristy and Vince Stawinski, of Brackenridge, grandson Matthew (Ellie) of Altoona, and granddaughter Abigail of Brackenridge, furbabies, her dog Buddy, her daughter Pam Spencer, and grandsons Travis and Lester of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Vincent Pierce, son Richard Petrovich, and best friend Martha Ross. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center 500 E 8th Ave, Tarentum, PA 15084. All services and burial for Candice will be private.
