Carol A. Thickey, 76, of Tarentum, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, following a three-year battle with dementia. She was born November 13, 1944 in Norwich, England to the late Chester and Marjorie J. (Rushmer) Gibson. Carol lived most of her life in Tarentum where she was a Librarian for 25 years at the Tarentum Library. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Brackenridge and a former member Eastern Star and Ladies Guild of St. Barnabas. Carol graduated in 1962 from Tarentum High School and was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her husband Lester to many places around the world. Carol especially enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 58 years who was always by her side, Lester M. Thickey, Jr.; twin daughters Leslie A. Mayhugh, of Winfield Twp. and Lisa A. (James) McCleary, of Lower Burrell and her granddaughters Faith and Grace Mayhugh of Winfield Township and Josie McCleary, of Lower Burrell.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Frank M. Yesko, her Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Family suggests contributions to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Freeport & Morgan St., Brackenridge, PA 15014.
