Caroline "Cool" Cernicky

April 13, 1927 — September 10, 2021

Caroline  “Cool”   (Bitterice)  Cernicky, 94 of New Kensington passed away  Friday, Sept 10,2021 at Presbyterian Sr. Care Oakmont with her family by her side. She was born April 13,1927 in New Kensington a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Moses)  Bitterice.

Caroline lived her entire life in New Kensington, was a homemaker, a graduate of New Kensington High School in  1945,a  member of St. George Syrian Orthodox Church, New Kensington, and the  Bazbina Ladies association.

Caroline enjoyed cooking,baking,reading, was an avid Pgh Steeler fan, she liked to watch golf and Ice skating on TV, shopping in New Kensington, going to the beauty salon, traveling with her husband Edward to Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, and Key West,Fl,and many other places. She loved family gatherings, was a great cook, especially Syrian foods, and shared her recipes with many  family and friends.

She is survived by  a daughter with whom she made her home, Ann E.  (Thomas) Robson of New Kensington, Sons,  Bruce L. (Carol)  Cernicky, Gulfport, Miss,. Jeffrey V. (Anna) Cernicky, New Kensington, and Michael S. (Kim)  Cernicky, of Lower Burrell, grandchildren, Ryan Cernicky,Lower Burrell, Jacob Robson and Terri Miller, Pittsburgh, Emily Robson & Joanna  Cernicky , New Kensington, and a Great Grandson James Edward Robson of Pittsburgh.  

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 yrs, Edward  T.  Cernicky in 2003, 2 brothers, William “Bud”  and John M. Bitterice, as well as 3 sisters,  Alice  Green, Ann Anthony, and Nora  Taylor.

The family would like to thank friend and caretaker Colleen Harris and the staff of Presbyterian Senior Care, and Heritage Hospice for their wonderful care.

A private family visitation was held at the Duster Funeral Home,Inc. 347 East 10th Avenue,Tarentum,and a Funeral Service was conducted by her Pastor, Father Justin Mokhiber. Interment was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
