Christine A. Harmon, 54, of Brackenridge, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born February 29, 1964 to Kathleen (Yeasted) Gavlak, Harmar and the late David C. “Diamond” Janicik. Christine lived in the AK area her entire life where she was a School Counselor at St. Joe’s High School, Natrona Heights for 25 years where she was also taught Psychology. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Christine was a member of the Allegheny Co. School Counselor Association, PA School Counselor Association Treasurer and President elect. She was also a member of the former Jr. Women’s Club, Allegheny Valley. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1982, the University of Notre Dame 1986 and with a MS from Slippery Rock University in 1990. She was the recipient of the Spirit of St. Joseph award in 2016. Christine loved her work and was devoted to her students. She enjoyed traveling to Disney world, reading, jewelry making, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. Christine was a very giving person who loved her nieces, nephews, friends and family. Christine lost her battle while waiting for a liver transplant.
Besides her mother she is survived by her husband of 17 years, Keith A. Harmon; Brothers Gregory (Regina) Janicik, Brooklyn, NY, Jeffrey (Wendy) Janicik, San Diego, CA and Douglas (Cindy) Janicik, Tempe, AZ. Also surviving are her step children, Tracy Vasquez and Robert Harmon; step father William M. Gavlak and 8 nieces and nephews. Besides her father she was preceded in death by her grandparents Lawrence and Madeline Yeasted and Frank and Anna Janicik.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Burial in St. Clement Cemetery, Tarentum.
