Dale Edmund Deemer

Dale Edmund Deemer, 72, of Brackenridge, PA passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 in hospice care of Allegheny General Hospital after an extended but brave battle with mouth cancer. He was born in Charleroi, PA on December 20, 1951 to the late Rev. Alfred Deemer & Betty (McConnell) Deemer. 

Dale graduated with the 1969 class of Highlands H.S. and continued his education in Computer Graphics at the Art Institute and Penn State New Kensington. He used his photography and computer graphics skills as a Media Consultant for Allegheny Ludlum Research. His passion for fast muscle cars and being the proud owner of a Buick Grand Sport earned him the nickname “Smokey” for his professional-like burnouts. A true Yinzer, he was an avid fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins sports teams. Travel was a favorite past time in retirement, and his travels took him to Ireland, Scotland, Fiji, and New Zealand over his lifetime. Dale was of the Christian Faith, and enjoyed volunteering at Allegheny Valley Hospital as a hospitality support person. 

Along with his parents, Dale was predeceased by his oldest sister, Diana Lee Bish and is survived by his brother, Douglas Deemer and wife Julie (Melzer) Deemer. Also survived by a sister, Dr. Deborah Deemer of Cedar Falls, Iowa and nieces Nicole Ferree of Watertown, Massachusetts and Suzanne McVay of Cincinnati, Ohio. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who enjoyed his humor on his Facebook posts. Smokey enjoyed socializing with his many friends at Boots in Tarentum, and Ernies in Brackenridge and was known for his generosity and lively demeanor there.

At his request, there will be no public viewing, and cremation will be handled by Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. A memorial celebration of Dale’s life will be planned and scheduled in the near future. At Dale’s request, any memorial donations may be made to the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church, 1428 Broadview Blvd. Natrona Heights, PA 15065, where his father served for many years. VISIT: dusterfh.com
