Donald L. Checkeye, 78, of Tarentum, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the ER of Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born August 17, 1939 in Timblin, PA, to the late Theodore and Edna (Ferringer) Checkeye. Donald lived most of his life in the area where he was a Autobody repairman for Glenn Buick in New Kensington for 35 years. He was of the Protestant faith and a graduate of East Deer High school in 1957 and the GM training center. Donald enjoyed automobiles, restoring Corvettes and Camaros, the YMCA and NASCAR races. Donald loved the family dog Bailey but he was especially proud of his granddaughter Aleksey. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Doelfel) Checkeye; children Kimberly D. (Russell) Henderson, Natrona Heights and Erik D. (Debbie A.) Checkeye, Tarentum; granddaughter Aleksey N. Checkeye. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Kenneth Lyle Checkeye. A private memorial service was held on Wednesday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 with Rev. Gregory L. Spencer, officiating. Entombment was in Mt.
