Dr. Michael P. Kuniak,DO of Economy Borough passed away on Saturday, August 14,2021 unexpectedly at Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, VA, while on his way home from a family vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC.

He was born Aug 11,1953 in Harrison Twp, a son of the late Stephen J. Kuniak, and Mary Ellen (Jentgens) Kuniak of Frazer Twp.

A resident of Economy Borough the past 31 yrs, Dr. Kuniak was an Occupational Health Physician for Shippingport and Bechtel Bettis Nuclear Power Stations. Dr. Kuniak was Valedictorian of his Deer Lakes High School class of 1971, and a graduate of Bethany College in WVA with his BS degree, as well as the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s degree in Public Health, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Michael was an avid golfer ,gardener, fisherman, and he enjoyed all sports, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 yrs, Sarah A. (Kain) Kuniak, his children, Stephanie L. and Kelly C. Kuniak of Economy Borough, his siblings David A. and Daniel S. Kuniak of Frazer Twp.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Stephen J. Kuniak ,and a brother Dr. Stephen A. Kuniak.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 19^th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 East 10^th Avenue, Tarentum 15084 724-224-1526. A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10AM in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp.
