Edwin Elmo “Mike” Montgomery, 92, formerly of the Tarentum area, passed away Tuesday August 16, 2022 after a fall at home in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born June 6, 1930 in Tarentum to the late Ralph and Gladys (Johnson) Montgomery. Mike lived most of his life in Natrona and Tarentum and has lived in Florida since 2000. He also lived in Norfolk, Virginia for 20 years. Mike was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy receiving several awards, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Navy Good Conduct Medal (7), Korean Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was of the Methodist and a member of the Tarentum VFW Memorial Unit. Mike graduated from Har Brack High School in 1948 and was an avid sports player and fan.
Survivors include his sons, Jeffery W. (Luz) Montgomery, of Norfolk, VA and Michael Elmo (Nancy) Montgomery, of Virginia Beach, Va; and 3 grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann (Painter) Montgomery in 1995 and a sister Gladys June Collins.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. with Rev. Gregory L. Spencer, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell with Military Honors. VISIT: dusterfh.com
