Eugene S. "Gene" Ceschini

Eugene S. “Gene” Ceschini, 92, of East Deer Township, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh following a brief illness. He was born September 9, 1928 in Kittanning, PA. The son of the late Albino and Elizabeth (Serafini) Ceschini. He has lived the past 60 years in East Deer Twp. . Gene was a 1946 graduate of New Kensington High School and a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh in Electrical Engineering. Prior to graduating from Pitt, he worked at ALCOA as a labor, Office boy and at the Alcoa Research lab as a Metallurgic Technician, while attending night school at Pitt. He spent four years in the US Air Force as a Radar Mechanic. After finishing his schooling, he obtained a job at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Research and was part of a team who built a computer and installed it, which controlled a PPG Wareroom in Maryland. Later he obtained a job in Jones and Laughlin Steel Research and built a control device for a hot strip rolling mill. He then worked for Gulf Oil Research Lab, and his team built a computer system that controlled a large polyethylene plant. He became a computer consultant, advising almost all Gulf Oil’s plants on how to computerize them. He became a Technical Associate. After Gulf’s take over, he went to Koppers Research, here he helped with the startup of a large womanized wood plant, retiring from Koppers and eventually retiring from Keystone Environmental company.

            He was a PTA President, School Director of both Deer Lakes and Beattie Tech. Gene was a life time member of St. Vincent DePaul and an environmental activist and a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, His hobbies included programming computer games and business systems.

            Survivors include his wife of 64 years Mary Jane (Bordell) Ceschini; his four sons, Kenneth (Ellen Ruth) Ceschini, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Thomas (Dana) Ceschini, of Natrona Heights, David (Gina) Ceschini, of Lower Burrell and Michael (Linda) Ceschini, of Natrona Heights; grandchildren Shawn, Kenneth, Jr., Heather (Bryan) Barradale, Jason Ceschini and fiancé Kindall Ward, Alex (Steven) Newbrough, Morgan (Doug) Weaver, Matthew Ceschini and 1 great grandson Robert Ceschini. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Louis Ceschini and a sister Theodora Hawdon.

            Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526.
