Evelyn Josephine Artkowsky

Evelyn Josephine Artkowsky, 96, of Lower Burrell, went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 3, 2024 while residing at Concordia of Cabot, PA. She was born September 25, 1928, the daughter of Silvio and Margharett Capoccioni, who immigrated from Italy to Tarentum in 1924. Besides her two parents, she had two brothers Raymond (Dolores) Carter, of FL and Richard (Irene) Capoccioni, of IL who also passed away, as well as a loving daughter in law, Leslie Artkowsky. 

Evelyn graduated from Tarentum High School in 1946 and married Walter Sabotka who passed away in 1957. She re-married Robert Artkowsky on June 20, 1959 who preceded her in death on November 7, 2023. They raised their three children, Marlene (Vijay) Dhar, of West Palm Beach, FL, Dr. Walter Artkowsky, of Waynesburg, PA and Robin Ann (Dr. Gregory) Zawrotny, of Indiana, PA. They lived and raised their children in Lower Burrel for over 60 years. 

 Evelyn also has two granddaughters Emily (Joshua) Strohm, of Downingtown, PA and Anna Artkowsky, of Charlotte, NC and one great grandchild Madelyn Jane Strohm, of Downingtown, PA.

 In her younger years, during the big band era, Evelyn was well known for her ability to jitterbug dance. She had great rhythm and grace on the dance floor. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her home. Faith and family were very important to her. She volunteered at the TryLife Pregnancy and Family Resource Center in Lower Burrell for many years and attended Bible Studies and Prayer groups. Her children loved her dearly and speak of the many holiday celebrations they had at home where they ate their mothers wonderful cooking. She was well liked by many, especially those she helped drive to their doctor appointments or to church when needed. Her grandchildren also loved her warm and generous spirit and have many great memories of their grandmother, who they will miss dearly. 

 Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7 PM in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 and Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Rev. Richard Wiater, Pastor of Good Shepard Church, Upper St. Clair, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. VISIT: dusterfh.com
