Evelyn J. Golgan, 82, of Tarentum, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Platinum Ridge Nursing Home, Brackenridge following a lengthy illness. She was born June 30, 1936 in Putneyville, PA, Armstrong County, to the late Frederick and Fay (Hockenberry) Gainor. Evelyn lived most of her life in Tarentum where she was a Registered Nurse at Kittanning Hospital and Citizens Hospital and a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum and a 1954 graduate of Ford City High School and Allegheny Valley School of Nursing in 1957. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and ceramics. She was known for her awesome baking and helping with raising her grandchildren. Evelyn especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her children Kathy (Michael) Kindler, Natrona Heights, Mary Jo (Timothy) Jenkins, East Deer, Kelly (William) Bigenho, New Kensington, Richard J. (Kathy) Golgan, East Deer, Brian J. Golgan, Etna and Frederick (Pamela) Golgan, Buffalo Twp.; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Richard “Dick” Gainor, Dayton, OH. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Golgan in 2012; 2 brothers Patrick and Jack Gainor and 4 sisters Anna Cathryn Twombly, Geraldine Acerni, Mabel Pore and Mary Louise DiGregorio.
