Francine R. Michaels, 80, of Buffalo Twp., passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia. She was born July 31, 1941 and lived most of her life in Fawn Township. She was well known for her love of Bluegrass music. She and her husband Ed owned and operated Mountain Top Campground. They hosted annual Bluegrass festivals, bringing the music they loved to the hills of Allegheny Valley for over 20 years. She traveled to Tennessee where she composed and recorded her own songs. She was most proud of her award for up-and-coming Bluegrass performer. Fran also enjoyed spoiling her dogs, spending time with family, gardening and tending to her prized orchids.
Along with her beautiful memories, she leaves behind her daughter Donna (Melvin) Bouchat, of Saxonburg; 4 granddaughters Ronda (Vince) Rodi, Shelly Bouchat, Casey (Mike) Tuxward and Jamie (Kristen) Zelmore and 4 great grandchildren Lola, Sylvia, Arabella and Jonas. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Michaels, a son Harold “Huck” Porter, 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
Visitation Wednesday from 10 am until 1PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a prayer service will follow visitation. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions to Orphans of the Storm. VISIT: dusterfh.com
