Frank Joseph Svitek, Sr., 92 of Brackenridge, died peacefully at his home, Thursday, September 20, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1926 in Brackenridge, the son of the late John and Mary Stasny Svitek. He was a lifelong resident of Brackenridge, graduating from Har- Brack High School in 1944. A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Army. He worked numerous jobs in his lifetime and retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Creighton. Frank was a member of St. Joseph Parish, St. Ladislaus Church, Natrona and a former member of St. Mathias Church, Natrona. He was a life member of the Brackenridge American Legion, where he served as treasurer for 20 years. He was also a lifelong member of the Oregon Club. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs. He enjoyed gardening and golfing and he loved all sports, and was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. Frank was very patriotic and had great faith. His favorite songs were “God Bless America” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Survivors include his children, Karen Carter, Lower Burrell, Kristine Bucci, Royal Oak, MI, Debbie (Tim) Callahan, Pawley’s Island, SC, Kevin (Cathy) Svitek, Tarentum, Denise Svitek, at home, Frankie (Sharon) Svitek, Jr., Natrona Heights, Keith (Crisie) Svitek, Fawn Township and loving dog, Ginger. Also surviving are his grandchildren, George Carter, Jr., Carrie (Carter) Brothers, Dawn (Bucci) Burdick, Donna (Bucci) Valenti, Alfred Bucci, III, Craig Negley, Jr., Danielle (Negley) Taylor, Corrinne (Negley) Fournier, Shannon, Ashley and Kyle Svitek, Heather (Brubaker) Mennow, Terra Brubaker, Nick and Eric Svitek, Kirstyn and Colton Svitek; step grandchildren Mark, Sean and Tim Brubaker and Amy Crawford; great grandchildren Megan, Wyatt, Katrina, Georgia, Tristan, Ciarra and Cayla; Nina, Jack, Jenna, Nick, Ryan, CrissAnn, Liliana and Alayna; Christian, Bailie, Seth, Reese, Corrissa, Collette, Samuel, Joshua, Zora-Jade and Jonathan, Emma; Luca and Oliver. Step great grandchildren Brennan, Alayna, Jake, Madison, Shawn and Westley, Quintin, Emily, Payton and Logan. Also surviving is his brother, Robert Svitek, Littleton, MA and Sister Mildred Derbaum, Natrona Heights. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie (Sharick) Svitek, June 1, 2011; his daughter Mary Ellen Svitek (Terry) Brubaker, Fawn Twp., September 12, 2018, son in law George Carter, Sr., brothers Joseph, Anthony, Louis, Rudy Sr., John Sr., Edward and Richard Svitek; his sisters, Mary Krumenacker, Anna Brim and Josephine Salat.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday in St. Ladislaus Church, Natrona. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell with Military honors. Oregon Club will meet in the Funeral Home Mon at 6:45 PM followed by the Brackenridge American Legion at 7PM.
