Garry J. Christy

Garry J. Christy, 77, of Fawn Township, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 in Deland Hospital, Deland Florida after being ill the past 6 months. He was born July 29, 1945 in Harrison Township to the late Frank L. and June N. (Shearer) Christy. Garry was a maintenance worker for Liberty Mirror, Brackenridge for 28 ½ years and also worked for Penn Dot for 14 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. He was stationed in Germany when he met his wife. He was a member of East Union Presbyterian Church, West Deer Township, Tarentum Eagles and Life member Fawn Twp. #1 firehall.  Garry was a 1963 graduate of Tarentum High School and served as Township Supervisor for 24 years and part time police officer for Fawn Twp. for 13 years. Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, children and his grandchildren.

            Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret E. (Harrison) Christy; daughter Katherine (Brian) Ritchie, of Rostraver Township; grandchildren Emily Anne Ritchie (fiancé Jeff Hull) and Ian Ritchie. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Michael J. Christy in 2003 and brother Donald Christy in April 2017.

            Visitation Monday May 22, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in East Union Presbyterian Chapel, West Deer Twp., with Rev. James C. Ramsey, officiating.
