George “Big George” Cook, Jr., 73, of Brackenridge, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born July 11, 1951 in Tuskegee, AL to the late George and Iona (Layne) Jenkins, Jr. George lived most of his life in Brackenridge and the New Kensington area. He was a machinist for Oberg Manufacturing and of the Baptist faith. George enjoyed karaoke, shooting pool, swimming and darts. He was a gymnast and a Pittsburgh sports fan. George especially enjoyed his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Tyrone Kenny, of Pgh., Rhashid Woods, of Sewickley, Eric Hollins, of Pgh., Rahim Cook, of St. Petersburg, FL, Ahmed (Desiree) Gilbert, of Aliquippa, Louis Owen, of Brackenridge, Ashley Cook, of Charlotte, NC, Justin (Jennifer) Hayden, of East Deer Twp., Nathan Fletcher, of Coraopolis and Brittany Malecki-Cook (Breanna Toney) , of Greensburg; and numerous grand and great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Joseph (Sue Ann) Miller, of Leechburg and George’s companion Bonnie Gould. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Tracy Malecki-Cook in 2015, son Jerome Kenny, daughter Tiffany Malecki-Cook, sister Mattie Layne and brother Tony Layne.
Visitation will be 1-7 PM Friday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am with Rev. Rubin R. Bailey, II, Interim Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Braddock, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. VISIT: dusterfh.com
