Harry R. Brake, 59, of Winfield Twp., passed away at home Monday, October 9, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He was born May 25, 1958 in Harrison Township, son of the late Harry B. Brake and Ethel Mae (McGuire) McNeal. Harry lived in the area his entire life. He was in Maintenance for a Property Management Company in Wexford for many years. Harry was of the Methodist faith. He was in the Air Force Reserves as a Master Sgt. at the 911th Air Force Base in Coraopolis. He was head of the Carpentry Division and retired in 1997 after spending 21 years in the service. He graduated in 1976 from Highlands High School and enjoyed being a Pappy most of all but also enjoyed doing yard work, family events and watching sports, especially hockey.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Valerie K. (Peiffer) Brake; daughters Jacqueline N. (Andrew) Barnes, New Kensington, Shandi N. (James) Sherman, Harrisville and Whitney L. Wurmb, at home; grandchildren Keyshaun Anthony “Bubba” Barnes, Caileab J. Sherman, Jamison C. Sherman, Chelseigh N. Sherman and Isaiah N. Sherman. Mother in law Patricia Peiffer, Saxonburg and step mother Candy S. Brake, Chicora. Brothers Ronald (Misty) Brake, Creighton, Jeffrey Brake, Natrona, Rodney Brake, Lyndora, Richard (Marybeth) Brake, Kittanning, Harry Brake, Jr., Delaware, Melvin (Kelly) McNeal, Fawn Twp., 2 step brothers Joseph (Mallory) Schreckengost, Slippery Rock and Robert Wetmore and brother in law Dale (Mary) Peiffer, East Brady. Also surviving are 6 sisters, Pamela (Tom) McNeal, Pleasantville, Joni (Walter) Keller, Brackenridge, Lisa Copney, WV, Tracy Geracia, Tarentum, Melanie (Donald) Lang, Natrona Heights and Kristen Brake, Chicora and step sisters Nicole (George) Hobaugh, Chicora and Amanda (Dusty) Brown, Kittanning. Also surviving are multiple Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father Melvin McNeal and brother in law Larry Copney.
