James W. Grabigel, 83 of Tarentum passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Twp. He was born February 25, 1935 to the late Edward R. and Frances (Munson) Grabigel. James lived most of his life in Tarentum and Brackenridge, and was a manager for Golden Dawn and Loblaw’s Supermarkets in New Kensington. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum. James was very active in his church and was in charge of the pancake breakfast for over 5 years. He also helped with meals on wheels in Natrona Heights. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara A. (Dietrick) Grabigel; his children, James E. (Joyce) Grabigel, Connecticut, Jeffery R. (Kathleen) Grabigel, Upper Burrell, Jody S. Shumaker, Natrona Heights . Grandchildren Jason, (Jessica) Shumaker, New Kensington, Amanda (Michael) Santek, Glenshaw and Nicholas Grabigel, Upper Burrell Twp. Great grandchildren, Ava and Ricky Shumaker, New Kensington.A sister Patricia (Paul) McConville,Sigel,Pa. and Stepmother in Law, Esther Dietrick, Cheswick. James was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Edward, Harold, Richard, Robert, and Frank Grabigel and a sister, Betty Jane Marchlewski.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Sunday in Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 East 10th Ave., Tarentum 724-224-1526.Services will be held on Monday at 11 AM in First United Presbyterian Church Tarentum with Rev.
