James D. Martz, 92, of Fawn Twp., passed away at home, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 following a brief illness. He was born February 23, 1932 in Tarentum to the late Joseph D. and Anna J. (Huey) Martz. James lived in Fawn Township his entire life. He was a Roll Turner at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., Brackenridge for 45 years. James was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He was of the Protestant faith and a 1950 graduate of Har Brack High School. James was an organist and helped to build Mission Chapel Church in Fawn Twp. He enjoyed gardening, collectibles and antiques. He especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elsie L. (Jones) Martz; his children Joseph D. Martz, of Fawn Twp. and Michelle (John Scott) Murray, of Gilpin Twp. Also surviving are his grandchildren Ian, Drew, Seth and Chase Murray and 3 great grandchildren Kai, Cora, and Dakota Murray. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Joseph Daniel McCrosky, Pastor Expressway Baptist Church, Buffalo Twp., officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Twp.
