Jean Slomkowski

August 5, 1928 — January 11, 2021

Jean (Guido) Slomkowski, 92, formerly of Brackenridge, passed away from complications of Covid-19 on January 11, 2021 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. She was born August 5, 1928, in Delmont, daughter of Pasquale and Desolina (Cordisco) Guido. Jean lived most of her life in Brackenridge and the last 7 ½ years in Concordia Health and Human Care, Cabot, PA. She worked at Liberty Mirror, was a teacher’s aide at St. Ladislaw School in Natrona but more importantly was being an excellent wife for 69 years and a model mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean was a member of the Ladies Guild at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Known for her kindness and generosity she enjoyed writing letters and phoning friends and relatives.

            Survivors include her children Kathleen (James W.) Geary, of Tarentum, Michael J. (Ginni) Slomkowski III, of West Deer Twp., and Joseph A. (Rosemary) Slomkowski, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren Jude (Kristen) Michaels, Erin (Christopher) Ritz, Kily (Adam) Maier, Lori (Sean) Reynolds, Melissa (Bob) Yohman, Justin (Sara) Slomkowski, Dr. Joshua (Miranda) Slomkowski; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anna and Christopher Ritz, Peyton and Tanner Michaels, Landon and Kendall Maier, Tia Reynolds, Brenna and Noah Yohman, Johnny and Camryn Slomkowski, and Nora and Tessa Slomkowski. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Michael J. Slomkowski, Jr. in 2017, an infant son, Victor, sisters Della Czarnowski and Shirley Guido and brother Victor Guido.

            Due to Covid-19 restrictions and the family’s request there will be no public visitation. A Christian funeral mass was celebrated Friday in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Burial was in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. The family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Lutheran Ministries for their love, affection and care who became Jean’s extended family during the pandemic visitation restrictions.
