Jennie M. Nasser, of Tarentum, passed away at her home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Born Jennie Margaret Pelican in Creighton on January 17, 1924, she was next to the youngest of 10 children born to the late Wentz and Jennie (Collins) Pelican. She graduated from East Deer High School and then went on to work for ALCOA and PPG. It was while working at PPG that she met her future husband, Elmer Nasser. They married in November 1954 and raised four children. Jennie loved to cook and bake and was known for her delicious Syrian food, especially her Syrian bread, but, she most loved spending time with her family. She was a kind, compassionate and loving person. She will be greatly missed, always loved but never forgotten.
Survivors include her children, Joseph M. (Margie) Nasser, Brackenridge, Mark M. (Lisa) Nasser, Gainesville, VA, Elmer M. (Michelle) Nasser, Purcellville, VA and Darlene M. Nasser, Tarentum; grandchildren, Nicole (Bill) Heasley, Jennifer (Dan) Ambrose, Kristin (Zak) Lowery, all of Lower Burrell, Emilie, Alex, Sarah, Austin, and Isabelle Nasser all of Virginia; great grandchildren Haylee and Brody Heasley and Wyatt and Alexander Ambrose. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years Elmer M. Nasser on May 27, 1994; and her siblings Bill, Charles, Theodore, Leonard, Mamie, Emma, Katherine, Molly and twin sister Genevieve.
Visitation 3-8 PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Trisagion prayers will be recited in the funeral home Monday at 7:30 PM. Funeral service Tuesday at 10 am in St George Church, New Kensington with Rev. Father Meletios Zafaran, officiating, followed by a graveside service in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
