John M. Kokenda, Jr.

John M. Kokenda, Jr., 88, of Tarentum, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Pleasant ridge Personal Care Home, Allegheny Township. He was born May 11, 1930 in Tarentum to the late John M. and Rose (Derringer) Kokenda, Sr. John grew up in the Tarentum area and lived in Melbourne, Florida for 22 years before returning in 2015. He was employed at the former Union Spring Manufacturing in New Kensington, retiring in 1992. John was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Marine Corps.

          Survivors include his wife, Joanne L. (Cruikshank) Duke Kokenda; children John M. (Kristen) Kokenda, III, Greenville, SC, Kelli (Frank) DiGnazio, Pittsburgh and Judy (Frank) Dickson, Scottsdale, AZ; step daughters Cindy (Jim) Reo, Allegheny Twp. and Lori (Dan) Cochran, Columbia, MD; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Kokenda and 2 step sons Jeff and Ron Duke.
