John R. Slobada

        John R. Slobada, 79, of Fawn Township passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, October 19, 2023. He was born May 2, 1944 in New Brighton, PA to the late John F. and Virginia (Kralic) Slobada. John has lived the past 47 years in Fawn Township. He was a retired Electrical Engineer for Westinghouse. John was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Hancock. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School and earned a Bachelor of Science from Case Institute of Technology. John enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, hunting, fishing and was a history buff. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, children and his grandchildren.

            Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Sysyn) Slobada; his children Aaron M. (Michelle) Slobada and Tamara L. Slobada, both of Carnegie grandchildren Adam Slobada and Arya Slobada, of Carnegie. Also surviving is his sister Judith Smith, of Chippewa. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Melody L. Duffalo in 2006 and son Shane Slobada in 2021.

            Visitation Monday from 2 PM until the time of service at 7PM in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 with Rev. Michael Duffalo, officiating.
